Sibella Knott-Craig

Sibella is CEO and co-founder of Tribage, an app studio based in Stellenbosch, South Africa. She is a Chartered Accountant, tech entrepreneur, and a mother of three young children.

Prior to heading up Tribage Sibella assisted in setting up Project Isizwe, a non-profit organization deploying free Wi-Fi networks in low-income communities across Africa.

Tribage is a pioneer in educational apps for young children using local African languages, including Zulu, Xhosa and Afrikaans.

Craig holds a Masters degree in Economics from UCT. This ambitious young man worked previously as an economist, consulting primarily in healthcare and competition economics industries.

In April 2013, Craig became the first employee, later becoming a fully-fledged partner in Ever Africa.

He joined Ever Africa to focus on entrepreneurship, business development and changing the world through technology. Ever Africa has steadily grown, with investments and operations spanning the telecoms, media and technology sector. The projects embarked on by Ever Africa include the development of Ever Egg, Litter Wars, Tribage, Juju Fire, Donnder and StellieSafe. He’s changing the world, one app at a time.

Alan Knott-Craig Jr.

Founder & CEO of Project Isizwe, a non-profit company managing the deployment of the largest public Free WiFi network in South Africa.

Former CEO of Mxit, Africa’s biggest social network. Founder World of Avatar, an investment house for mobile apps for Africa. 2006 to 2009, CEO of iBurst from 2006 to 2009, building one of South Africa’s largest wireless broadband networks.

Founded Cellfind in 2003, one of Africa’s first location-based services providers. Between 2003 and 2013 co-founded and/or funded 17 companies in the TMT sector in Africa, including Cellfind, Lucky Mobile, iFind34600, COLV, World of Avatar, Toodu, FSMS, Triloq, 6th Line, Daily Maverick, ARC Telecoms, Pondering Panda, MorMor Media, and Boom.fm

In April 2008 published Don’t Panic, a best-selling book aimed at persuading South Africans to stay in the country. In 2009 named as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. In 2012, co-authored Mobinomics, the story of Mxit, the biggest social network to come from Africa. In 2014 published Really, Don’t’ Panic and Moenie Stres Nie, a follow up the 2008 edition of Don’t Panic. Qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 2002.

After his qualification as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 2003, Van Zyl continued in the profession as an audit manager. He left the assurance industry and created a financial consulting firm focused on across the board private equity and the mining industry. He consulted to companies listed in SA, London and New York and private equity firms in Europe and in the USA. Van Zyl has been involved with mergers, acquisitions and the accompanying regulatory requirements of the JSE, TRP, Competition Commission and the SARB. He has also dealt with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the USA and American Depository Receipt programs though the Bank of New York Mellon (www.bnymellon.com). In addition he served on the forensic and litigation team of a listed company where recoveries in excess of R1.2 Billion were made.

Van Zyl joined the corporate world in 2006 and was promoted to serve on the board of a listed mining company as FD at the age of 29. He was responsible for the finance, treasury, HR & IT departments. He was actively involved in stakeholder and shareholder communications, relationship management, audit, risk and served on internal audit committees.

He joins the Ever Africa team with a wealth of experience for this new role.

CorneCorne de Villiers

Corne holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics, as well as other educational qualifications regarding Information Technology.

1992 to 1996, worked for the CSIR in the DataTech division developing WorldNet Africa, the first online interactive search engine, as well as World Group Online, one of the first HTML web platforms build. Part of the web development team, new areas of the internet were explored and developed, and the first e-commerce platform were introduced to facilitate business to business commerce.

Co-founder and Director of ITI Technology Holdings in 1996, which listed on the JSE in 1998. CEO of ITI Online, an ISP focusing on dialup Internet connections as well as leased line business connectivity. ITI Online integrated 35 ISP’s country wide to form a user base, which was later sold to M-web Business and Storm Telecom. Various e-commerce and web portals were developed and introduced to the market, merging the traditional business models with electronic, web interactive graphical user interfaces.

In 2005, a new IT company, La Rochelle IT solutions was formed with the aim to provide wireless connectivity and IT support services to businesses and end users. The company changed its primary focus to provide high speed point to point and point to multi point wireless connectivity to businesses, using state of the art equipment like Motorola, Radwin, Alcoma, and Ubiquity.

ZahirZahir Khan

To date Zahir has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector holding various positions including that of Head of Business Development, Head of Product and Network Financial Manager during his career.

His 15 years of telecommunications experience was gained at the most significant growth periods at the leading telecommunications companies in South Africa, such as the Vodacom Group. His core operations and project skills are complimented by his knowledge of network architecture and solutions with his initial experience in the Finance field ideally position him as a the Chief Operating Officer at HeroTel.

JamesJames Devine

James has seventeen years experience in the telecommunications industry having rolled out networks in various countries such as South Africa, Mauritius and Uganda.

He has held positions ranging from Solutions Architect, Professional Services Engineer, Senior Network and Security Specialist to VAS and IT Manager over a myriad of companies including Telkom SA, Systems Fusion SA and iBurst. In addition, his vast experience and knowledge of networking technologies and solutions serve to cement his role within Ever Africa, which is bolstered by his project management implementation experience.
